Scholarships

Scholarships are awards that do NOT need to be repaid.  They may come from a variety of sources: community organizations, clubs, charities, businesses, individuals, colleges, or the government.  Scholarships may be based on academic achievement, outstanding skills (merit based), community involvement, etc.  Students may be required to write an essay or get letters of recommendation. Financial need may also be a consideration.

Important Tips
  • Any scholarship information that we receive in Student Services is put in the bulletin. Check it often!!
  • Applying for financial aid should never cost more than a postage stamp.
  • In general, you should not have to pay a fee to apply for or receive a scholarship!  Be very suspicious if you are asked to pay a fee!
  • The College Blue Book at most libraries lists thousands of scholarships available to assist students with paying for college.
  • Carefully investigate any scholarship search services that claim to help students find financial aid funds.  The financial aid officers from various colleges can help you in the same way for free.
