My Philosophy
I believe that the computer (technology) is just one more tool students can use to enhance their learning and productivity. My goal is to help the students become independent learners and problem solvers. It is my expectation that after the student leaves the elementary school, they will be able to be able to:
1. Identify the problem they need solved or the job they need do.
2. Identify the piece of technology that will help them solve their problem.
3. Be able to use the technology to complete their task and do this with little or no assistance.
Computer Classes
K-1 These students come into the lab once a week. Students work in Kid Pix learning basic skills and terminology needed to operate a computer. Using Type to Learn Jr., students begin to learn the location of the letters on their keyboards.
2-5 These grades come into the lab once a week. Students get a chance to work in all Microsoft Office programs. They use the Internet as a research tool to pull together data. Students use the data to create multimedia presentations and reports. Students also learn proper keyboarding techniques.
