Welcome to Art!

This is my sixth year teaching elementary art here at Coopersville. I am a 2000 graduate of Hope College. During my five years there, I worked in a variety of mediums with a concentration in digital photography. I enjoy creating my own artwork whenever I get the chance. I have done several murals throughout the area and enjoy working with ceramics, metal and wire. I also enjoy incorporating writing within my art.

Each week I am visited by students age kindergarten through fifth grade. Throughout the year, each grade level works with the twelve principles and elements of design. Please see the section on curriculum maps for more detail.

Student artwork is shared and recognized throughout the year. Besides the showcase displays at East and West elementary schools, students also take part in the Art From the Heart of CAPS program every fall, the MAEA show, Youth Arts Month at a local Wendy’s restaurant, and a yearly exhibit of approximately sixty student pieces at the Northeast Ottawa District Library. It is my goal to display more student artwork each year.
