Elementary Music might be a child's first exposure to the world of music, a world that is alive and well in the present age. Digital music is the rage in music circles around the globe. Society is consuming music via iTunes and iPods. This revolution in music production and distribution is an excellent avenue for music teachers to make a connection between the musical world that bombards students and the world of school music. The traditional band, choir and orchestra means of student musical participation can be just as vibrant today as it has been for centuries. This is possible through the efforts of the music education community realizing what makes students excited about music and working to harness this excitement within the context of their school music experience. There are many possibilities for school music programs to do this.
