Daily Schedule
- School hours: 8:45 a.m. – 3:40 p.m. (full days)
- Half days: 8:45 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
- Building opens: 8:30 a.m. (breakfast)
- No drop-off before: 8:30 a.m. (supervision is not available until this time)
Staff are present each morning to welcome students and help them find their teacher line before the school day begins.
Drop-Off, Pick-Up & Transportation
Morning Arrival, Drop-off
- Students enter the building each morning at the school entrance near the admin building.
- The building opens at 8:30 a.m. for students eating breakfast.
- Students arriving after the start of the school day must be signed in at the office by a parent or guardian.
Dismissal & Pick-Up
- Dismissal time: 3:40 p.m.
- Students are dismissed according to their regular transportation plan.
- Changes to dismissal: Must be communicated to the school by 2:00 p.m.
- If no notice is provided, students will follow their usual dismissal routine.
Transportation

- Families are encouraged to use the BusRight App for real-time bus updates.
- The app provides arrival notifications, route adjustments, and important transportation alerts.
Attendance & Absences
Attendance & Absences
- To report an absence: Call the school office at 616-997-3300.
- Please call by: 8:30 a.m. on the day of the absence.
- Voicemail is available 24 hours a day for absences.
Attendance counts for half days:
- Morning half day: Student must arrive by 9:00 a.m.
- Afternoon half day: Student must arrive by 1:00 p.m.

- Your child must be fever-free for 24 hours without using fever-reducing medication.
- Vomiting and diarrhea must be resolved for 24 hours.
- Overall symptoms should be improving before returning to school.

- Breakfast and lunch are available to students each school day.
- Breakfast is served in the lunchroom before school.
- Each student is issued a lunch account for meal purchases.
- Lunch and recess schedules vary by grade level.
Health & Medications

Medications at School
- A Medication Administration Form is required for any prescription or over-the-counter medication.
- The form must be signed by a physician.
- Medication must be brought to the office by a parent or guardian—students may not transport medications.
- All medication must be in its original container with the child’s name and prescriptions clearly labeled.

- Please inform the East office and your child’s teacher of any allergies or medical conditions.
- Health Care Plans (including allergy, asthma, or seizure plans) must be updated annually.
- Epinephrine, inhalers, or other emergency medications require a physician-completed plan on file.
Illness During the School Day
If Your Child Becomes sick at School
- Parents/guardians will be contacted if a child is ill or unable to participate in learning.
- Students displaying fever, vomiting, diarrhea, or concerning symptoms must be picked up promptly.
- Please ensure emergency contact information in Infinite Campus is up-to-date.
Recess & Weather
Recess
- Recess is part of the daily school experience at East Elementary.
- Students are expected to participate in outdoor recess.
- Exceptions are made for weather conditions or documented medical needs.
Weather-Related Closings & Delays
- Weather-related school closings and delays are determined by the district and communicated directly to families.
- Families will receive notifications through Infinite Campus, district email, and local media outlets.
- Please make sure your contact information in the Parent Portal is up-to-date so you receive alerts promptly.
- Updates are also posted on the district website and on the official Coopersville Area Public Schools Facebook page.

Building Security
- Doors remain locked during the school day.
- All visitors enter through the office.
Visiting East
- Visitors must check in at the main office and wear a visitor badge.
Volunteering
- A completed background check is required for all volunteers.
- Please bring your drivers license when volunteering.
- Parents and guardians interested in volunteering should contact the school office or their child’s teacher.
