Welcome to West Early Childhood Center
A Connected Community for Early Learners
At West Early Childhood Center (WECC), our youngest Broncos—Preschool through 1st Grade—learn and grow together in one connected community.
Guided by Principal Lindsey Bolthouse and Early Childhood Supervisor Kristen Spoelman, WECC reflects Coopersville Area Public Schools’ mission to inspire lifelong learners, compassionate citizens, and confident young minds.
Our Approach to Early Learning
At WECC, learning is purposeful, engaging, and grounded in both curiosity and care.
A child-centered, hands-on curriculum builds curiosity and confidence through discovery and play.
Evidence-based instruction challenges and supports students of all abilities.
Daily opportunities for collaboration and creativity encourage children to grow as thinkers, helpers, and friends.
Together, these practices form our approach to early learning—where play, purpose, and proven teaching come together to shape a lifelong love of learning.
Our Shared Expectations: “Be the Three”
At WECC, positive behavior is part of learning. Through our Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) system, students learn and practice our shared expectations every day:
Be Respectful. Be Responsible. Be Safe.
These simple, powerful principles guide how we learn, play, and care for one another—helping every child grow as both a learner and a kind friend.
Families First
We believe children thrive when home and school work together. That’s why WECC partners with families through:
Open communication between teachers and caregivers
Opportunities to volunteer and participate in classroom life
School events and celebrations that strengthen our sense of community
Together, families, educators, and our community help every child take their first steps toward lifelong learning and compassionate citizenship—core values of Coopersville Area Public Schools.
We’re proud to be a child’s first school—and a family’s first partner in learning.
