Fine Arts & Performing Arts

Fine & Performing Arts are an active and essential part of learning at CAPS. From kindergarten through grade 12, students engage in art, music, and theater through hands-on instruction that builds creativity, discipline, and expression. These experiences support academic growth while helping students develop confidence, skill, and a strong foundation in the arts.

CAPS Students Selected for MAAE Region 9 Art Show

Congratulations to the following Coopersville Area Public Schools students whose artwork has been selected for the Michigan Art Education Association (MAAE) Region 9 Art Show at the Grand Rapids Art Museum.

CENTERSTAGE THEATRE

Centerstage Theatre

Our 765-seat auditorium hosts a wide range of school and community events—from musicals and concerts to lectures, competitions, and more. Since opening in 2002, the theatre has been proudly maintained and operated by our student crew. Trained on industry-standard equipment, our student team delivers professional-quality support to ensure every event is a success.

BAND

Band Program

The Coopersville High School Band is directed by Greg Van Strien and Lisa Borst. Coopersville bands have enjoyed a long tradition of "excellence", consistently doing well at the District and State Band Festivals each year. Coopersville has also performed and competed on the national level over the years.

High school students may participate in Marching Band, Concert Band, and Pep Band  and can also audition for the CHS Jazz Band.

Visual Arts

Coopersville Area Public Schools Visual Arts Department strives to provide an engaging, rigorous, and standards-based curriculum for all students. Across all grade levels, our arts educators provide  students with meaningful learning opportunities which foster problem solving skills, opportunities for self-expression, and develop a life-long love of the arts in each individual. 

Coopersville High School offers an extensive and diverse Art program suitable for all skill and ability levels.  The course offerings have expanded to meet the demand and interest of our students.  These include:

Middle School Art classes are offered as elective courses to all sixth through eighth grade grade students.  The students experience a diverse curriculum with a focus on collaboration and projects which explore visual art in a fun and engaging way.

Every student in Kindergarten through fifth grade participates in Art once a week.  Students develop skills and creativity in a safe and caring atmosphere, experiencing a rich curriculum with a variety of projects and opportunities to develop a love of Art.

CHOIR

Choir Program

The Coopersville High School and Middle School choir programs are directed by Mrs. Haley Scanlon. Middle School choir electives include Sixth Grade Choir, Seventh Grade Choir, and Eighth Grade Choir. The High School choir offerings include Concert Choir, Bella Voce, and Show Choir. Over 200 students participate in the six different groups each year. Choirs perform and compete in various venues throughout the year including solo and ensemble, chorale festival, and cabaret.
