Operating Millage Renewal Proposal May 2026
The following is the official ballot language for the Coopersville Area Public Schools operating millage proposal, as it will appear on the May 5, 2026 ballot.
This proposal renews millage and will allow the school district to continue to levy its authorized operating millage rate on all property, except principal residence and other property exempted by law, required for the school district to receive its revenue per pupil foundation allowance.
Shall the limitation on the amount of taxes which may be assessed against all property, except principal residence and other property exempted by law, in Coopersville Area Public Schools, Ottawa and Muskegon Counties, Michigan, be increased by 17.8308 mills ($17.8308 on each $1,000 of taxable valuation) for a period of 3 years, 2026, 2027 and 2028, to provide funds for operating purposes; the estimate of the revenue the school district will collect if the millage is approved and levied in 2026 is approximately $3,590,000 (this is a renewal of millage that expired with the 2025 tax levy).
