Kindergarten Screening

Kindergarten screening is one of the first ways we get to know our future Broncos. During this short visit, our staff spends time learning about your child’s early skills, development, and readiness for school so we can thoughtfully support their transition into kindergarten.

Children who are age-appropriate for Kindergarten and not currently enrolled at Coopersville for Preschool or Young Fives should attend screening.

What Happens During Screening & Placement

During the screening visit, children spend time with teachers while parents meet with members of the WECC team and complete any necessary paperwork.

Information gathered during screening helps the CAPS team determine the most appropriate placement for each child. CAPS offers several entry options for young learners, including preschool, Young Fives, and kindergarten.

Families can explore the differences between these programs in the CAPS Placement Option Charts.
