Would you know what to do when it matters most?

We gather every day at work, school events, local businesses, places of worship and throughout our community. Knowing how to respond in an emergency is something we can all benefit from.

Community members are invited to a FREE CRASE (Civilian Response to Active Shooter Events) training led by Supervisor of Campus Safety Chris Koster.

CRASE was developed by the ALERRT Center at Texas State University to give civilians practical options for responding during an active threat. Rather than focusing on the law enforcement response, the program focuses on what you can do in the critical moments before help arrives.

What You’ll Learn

At the heart of CRASE is Avoid, Deny, Defend, a simple strategy designed to help everyday people understand their options during an active threat.

You’ll leave with a better understanding of how to:

  • Avoid danger and get away when possible

  • Deny access and protect yourself and others when you can’t leave

  • Defend yourself as a last resort if confronted by a threat

  • Make decisions during a rapidly changing emergency

No special training or experience is needed. This training is for parents, grandparents, employees, business owners, coaches, community groups and anyone who wants to be better prepared.
